My Inconvenient Truth!!

The Doctor's office called with the results of my lab work. The nurse told me my Enzyme levels are too low which makes it difficult for me to digest the following food groups: Sucrose, Lactose and Gluten!! In other words anything with natural sugar, milk products and bread!!!!!!! I was told to avoid those food groups FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE!! OK, what else is there? How is this possible? Apparently these food groups are causing my nausea and stomach pain.

Questions I have:

Why is this happening NOW?

What can I do to improve my enzyme levels?

When can I eat normal again???????????

WHERE IN THE WORLD IS KATHRYN PETERS???

If you are wondering what that slimy bit of photography above is...., it's my stomach!! Lately I've been wondering what has happened to the person I use to know as ME. I have been feeling ill for about a month now (seems much longer). I guess cleaning up day-old vomit at my Dad's place wasn't such a great idea. Two days later I came down with a nasty stomach bug, which seems to be lingering much longer than usual. It comes one day and not the next. I never know! Tests have been done, Doctors have been seen, blood has been drawn, stomach scoped (the technical term is Esophagogastrododuodenoscopy) more tests are going to be done. Frankly, I don't have a great deal of confidence in their tests, but am willing to do whatever if they can get to the bottom of the problem, give me the right treatment and send me on my way. I am really weary of eating the blandest of bland food. Can't wait to chow down on a big thick juicy cheeseburger and chocolate malt!!
Anyway, my apologies go out to all my loved ones who I have let down by missing important events and being a bit of a drag when you're around me. Thanks for the sweet letters, visits, texts, e-mails, phone calls and prayers!!

P.S. If my doctor sons can give me any insight on what they see in those photos. I would really like to know what an "irregular GE junction" is?!

Grandma's Bragging Rights!!

As a Grandma of sooooooo many talented and wonderful grandkids, I believe I have the right to brag a little! I wish I had photos of all their events, but sadly, I don't. But I can certainly tell you!

*Above is Whitley Erin Peters who did a superb job singing and dancing in the Production of Aladdin Jr. Her next role is Elfaba in "The Witches and Wizards of Oz" can't wait for that one!

*Kourtney Marie Beus came in 3rd in a debate contest with 62 other schools! She will go on to State in April!

*Sabrina Leigh Peters' Dance team and Volleyball team came in first place!! Wow!

*Owen Howard Peters graduated to the Nursery and can slam dunk on his Fisher Price Basketball Standard!

*Gunnar Scott Beus received his Learners Permit and a 4.0 grade average AGAIN!

*Trinity Ann Sansom tried out for a very difficult Gymnastic School and made it!!

*Cade Michael VanLeeuwen's teacher gave him high praises at Parent Teacher Conference. He excels in all his subjects and is a natural born leader.

*Boston Van Leeuwen has his mother dilated to a 2!

Now Moms, you see where I'm going with this, I would love more info from you because I know there is much more to brag about, so feel free to send me photos and updates!

February's Activities 2010

Ok, where did February go? I can't believe it is gone already!!!! It slipped by me in a flash! A trip to Cleveland with Grace, a trip to St. George with my sweetie, a Sinus Infection, the Stomach Flu, caring for my Dad, my kids, my grandkids, family activities, preparing Laurel lessons and activities, sewing nativity costumes for my grandkids (trying to get a jump start on Christmas---I know, I'm totally crazy!) and organizing my closets, cupboards, drawers, storage rooms....well, you get the picture! And now it's March, and there's four birthdays this month!! Help!

Grace and Grandma Kat's Adventures in Cleveland!!!!

Telisa phoned me in the Fall sometime and said, Clay was going to Switzerland in February for 10 days or so and wondered if I would love to come for a visit during that time. "Of course!" was my reply. So the plan was set in motion. See if you can follow along........ For a time, Dad was going to come with me, then we learned that Adam was also going to Switzerland with Clay leaving Tristen with not only her four kids, but three of Tara's girls as well, because Tara and Steve were off on a Sansom trip to California. I offered to take Jovie with me to Cleveland to alleviate some of the numbers for Tris, but Tara said she would prefer I take Grace. ( are you still with me??) It would be Grace's birthday while she was gone and she wanted Grace to feel a little special. Trinity ended up staying with Tara's friend Jamie so she didn't have to miss school, leaving Tristen with only one extra child--Jovie! Dad stayed in Utah to help Tristen and start finishing their basement. Meanwhile, at the VanLeeuwen home in Draper, Tristen was going a little nuts trying to potty train Pyper!?! (another long story) Tiffany came along after a few days of Tristen's utter despair (wait 'til you hear that story!) and took Jovie and two of Tristen's boys, Cade and Luke to her home in Spanish Fork so Tristen could more fully concentrate on Pyper and the continuing saga of potty training a Princess! Meanwhile back in Cleveland, Grandma Kat arrived with her precious Grace in tow with a nasty Sinus Infection! Telisa lovingly nursed me back to health--gave me her bed, bought me meds and made me food. She was so happy to have company, she didn't even care that I was mostly laying there, sneezing, blowing my nose, chilled with fever and generally spreading my germs everywhere!!! Thankfully, no one else got sick!!!!! And that's the story of Grace and Grandma Kat's Adventures in Cleveland!!!

Happy Birthday Grace!!

Grace celebrated her birthday while we were in Cleveland visiting Telisa and Bodie. We went out to breakfast, shopped at the Dollar Store, (10 gifts for $10.00!!!! Can't beat that!!) went to a georgous bakery where they make gourmet cakes- Grace picked her favorite, went out to lunch and then came home and watched "Camp Rock"!! Grace was super excited and grateful.
